PTA fundraiser March Move 100K challenge! to raise funds for the Eastbrook libraries. Read full letter below from PTA explaining how you can join in.

Dear Parents and Carers

March Move 100K challenge!

The P.T.A and staff of Eastbrook have been taking part in a massive challenge to each walk, run or cycle 100K in March. This is to kick-start our new fundraising drive to renovate all of the library areas at Eastbrook.

We have about 40 people in our team, including Mrs Sherlock, Natasha and Sarah from the office, Mr Trower, Miss Johnstone and Miss Morton. The rest of the team is made up of P.T.A members, like myself and other parents.

On the last day of term all of the children joined the challenge by walking or running at least one km in their year group bubbles to add 400k to the total kilometres covered.

You can still help us by donating on our Just Giving page and sharing our page and challenge on social media! We would love to raise as much money as possible to start the fundraising for this project! https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/Eastbrook100K?utm_term=4kMgEb2wb

So why are we doing it? Mr Trower (Literacy lead and KS1 teacher) explains why we so desperately need to fundraise for the library areas at Eastbrook.

Libraries are there to ignite a passion for books and reading. Often in schools they are there to provide calm spaces where learning and a love of reading can really take off. Sadly – due to lack of funding in schools - areas like these inevitably suffer and Eastbrook is no exception! We desperately need to ‘spruce’ our library spaces throughout the school so they are functional, welcoming and a space that excites the children about books. We are looking to build on what we have by improving every aspect; from the shelving and furniture to an updated selection of books to boost what we can already offer the children at Eastbrook. This applies to the KS1 library (where the yurt is) down to the smaller library areas in KS2. We have done all we can with what is available and now we need your help to take it to the next level.

Thank you as always for your support and we are so excited to let you know our final totals and share with you the plans for the new library spaces once they are drawn up!
