The World Beneath Our Feet - Summer  2022

For the Summer Term, the Year 3 topic is ‘The World Beneath Our Feet’. The children will be finding out about pre-history, to include Stone Age through to the Iron Age as well as learning about mountains in Geography.  In Science, the children will focus on the growth of plants and they will be given the opportunity to grow their own sunflowers and vegetables! Additionally, we will study how fossils are formed and explore rock and soil varieties. In Art, the children will study the famous artist Andy Goldsworthy and recreate their own pieces of natural art.

This term the children will restart swimming lessons and continue to build their confidence in the water.

Sumdog

We have just introduced Sumdog to the children in Years 3 and 4. This is a great interactive way for them to practise their times tables and improve their fluency of them. Click on the picture of Sumdog to take you to website.
To Infinity, and Beyond! - Spring  2022

Our topic for the spring term is called To Infinity, and Beyond! The topic begins with a training programme to become astronauts through a series of lessons based around Space. The children are given the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the life of an astronaut as they learn about the fitness, skills and knowledge that an astronaut would need. At the end of the topic, the children will attend a graduation ceremony where they will become astronauts. In our art sessions, we will be recreating the planets by using chalk, oil pastels, and water colours. They will also be designing and creating their own planets.

All wrapped up! - Autimn 2021

Ancient Egypt will inspire some very creative work.  The children will learn how a pharaoh was mummified and the importance of the River Nile. In Art, they will experiment with mixing different shades of colour to create wonderful paintings of sunsets over the pyramids.  In Literacy, the children will read one of the world’s oldest fairy tales `The Egyptian Cinderella’ and will then write their own version. In Science, this term the two main topics are:  Humans and Animals, where the children will learn about the life cycle and skeletal system.  The second will be Light and Shadow, where we will look at light sources, how shadows are formed and how light travels through different materials.
