Summer Term 2018: Savage Stone Age

Our topic for the summer term is called “Savage Stone Age”. The topic begins with exploring volcanos and earthquakes all around the world. Before we transport the children into the Stone Age. When they will be learning about the Stone Age .The children are given the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in a different culture, finding both the differences and similarities with that of their own.  In our art sessions we will be recreating Stone Age art work an example of this will be creating cave paintings.

Spring 2018: Astronaut Academy

Our topic for the spring term is called “Astronaut Academy”. The topic begins with a training programme to become Astronauts through a series of lessons based around Space. The children are given the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the life of an Astronaut as they learn about the fitness, skills and knowledge that an Astronaut would need. At the end of the topic the children will attend a graduation ceremony where the children will become Astronauts. In our art sessions we will be recreating the planets by using chalk, oil pastels, and water colours. They will also be designing and creating their own planets.

Assembly: Wednesday 14th March - 3VT, Wednesday 21st March - 3LS
WOW: Space day - Tuesday 27th March

Autumn 2017 - Mysterious Mummies . . .

Ancient Egypt will inspire some very creative work.  The children will learn how a Pharaoh was mummified. In art, they will experiment with mixing different shades of colour to create wonderful paintings of sunsets over the pyramids.  In literacy the children will read one of the world’s oldest fairytales `The Egyptian Cinderella’. In Science this term the two main topics are: Light and Shadow, in which the children will track their shadows across the course of a day, and Humans and Animals, where the children will learn more about their skeletons and the digestive system.
