    On Red Nose Day, Friday 17thMarch, we would like to invite children to pay a donation of £1.00 to wear red clothes, the more creative the better!.All money raised will go straight to Comic Relief.Payment may be made via Parent Pay(the link to the Comic Relief page was sent out on 24thFebruary). We will also have buckets on the playground for other donations. Thank you for your support.Red noses can be purchased via Amazon this year.

  • Year 3 Planetarium

    Our Year 3 topic for this half-term is ‘Space’ and we are writing to tell you about a trip to the South Downs Planetarium and Science Centre that has been arranged for Monday 13th March.

    We are travelling to Chichester by coach, leaving from outside the school at 9.00am and returning by 3.05pm.

    Children should arrive at school at 8.5 0am,to allow time for registration. Children should bring a packed lunch and plenty to drink with them.

    The children will need to wear full school uniform please and sensible shoes. Children will also need to bring a waterproof coat with them.

    The children will walk from school at 9.45am and they will be back at school for their lunch. Please ensure your child has a warm coat to wear as the station is rather chilly.

  • Year 5 Trip

    The children in Y5 have been offered an opportunity to visit the Rampion Visitor Centrein Brighton, near the i360.

    The trips will take place on Thursday 9th March for 5SG and Friday 10th March for 5CP. Children must wear their school uniform as we will be travelling on public transport for these trips.

  • World Book Day 2023

    Due to industrial action on Thursday 2nd March, Eastbrook will be celebrating World Book Day on Wednesday 8th March this year.

    On this day we are inviting children to dress up as a character from one of their favourite books. The costumes could be based on characters from anything from traditional tales to comic book superheroes.

    If possible, we would also like the children to bring in the book that their character is from. During the day, classes will take part in different activities linked to reading.

    On Wednesday 8th March the children will also receive a £1 book token which they can swap for a FREE WORLD BOOK DAY BOOK (there are 13 titles to choose from) or use to get £1 off any book or audio book costing £2.99 or more. For more details please visit the World Book Day website: www.worldbookday.com. The vouchers are valid until Sunday 26th March.

    The National Education Union (NEU) have decided to take strike action, with strikes happening on Thursday 2nd March 2023. The strike is happening because of a national dispute with the government over teachers’ pay and not because of any dispute at our school.

    Our priority is to keep the school open for all children, however, following the school risk assessment, I am writing to inform you that the school on Thursday 2nd March will be partially open to children based on the following criteria:

    1. Children with an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP)
    2. Vulnerable pupils as defined by the government
    3. Critical workers as defined by the government

  • Year 2 Pizza Express

    Year 2 trip to Pizza Express

    The children in Y2 have been offered an opportunity to visit Pizza Express in Hove to learn about hygiene, ingredients,kneading the dough,and make a margherita pizza. The children will be able to bring slice of their pizza back to school which they will bring home at the end of the day.

    The trips will take place on Tuesday 28th February for 2KB and Tuesday 7th March for 2FM.

  • Year 4 Workshop

    As part of the Y4 topic ‘A taste of India’ this term, we have organised a Hinduism workshop day with Krishna. The children will have an opportunity to experience Hindu storytelling, wear authentic costumes, face painting (washable paint) and learn about Hindu culture. Krishna has visited the school many times to hold these workshops and is very experienced at enriching the topic for the children.

    Our priority is to keep the school open for all children, however, following the risk assessment, we are writing to inform you that the school on Wednesday 1st February will be partially open to children based on the following criteria:

    1. Children with an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP)

    2. Vulnerable pupils as defined by the government

    3. Critical workers as defined by the government

    For other pupils, we are sadly unable to open the school as we will not have the resources needed to run the school safely and effectively, we are sorry for any disruption that this will cause.
